. Communicative language teaching contains the application of film in English teaching. Film is a very effective medium for language teaching, especially in teaching listening and speaking. As a special teaching medium, film can show the vivid picture and create a real communicative environment, which makes students improve applied ability in a relax atmosphere. This paper discusses the prospects of using films in teaching that course to students with regard to the advantages, feasibility, criteria for film selection and existing problems and solutions. So, the movie teaching effect had proven the movie is English listening in the teaching the effective teaching method. This paper consists of five chapters.
Chapter one is the introduction .which gives a brief introduction about the purpose of the paper. With the development of English teaching, the traditional English teaching mode can no longer meed the demand of modern teaching mode. Therefore, the traditional teaching method has been changed. Furthermore, the communicative language teaching should be applied wildly and the English movie teaching method should be used to enhance our communicative ability in listening and speaking.
Chapter two mainly introduces he Communicative Language Teaching, Through the introduction on the definition, features, and framework of CLT, it is concluded that CLT is an effective teaching method in improving students’ communicative ability.
Chapter three mainly concentrates n the characteristics of film in English listening and speaking class. The author indicates the effective functions of English movie in enhancing English listening and speaking, from the aspects of interesting plots, vivid language, and real communicative situation of English movie.
Chapter four mainly discusses the advantage and feasibility of teaching English listening and speaking through films. Through lots of examples, the author proves that English movie teaching method is of obvious effect in English teaching, from the aspects of English movie communicative situations, reality of language usage, artistic influence of films and students'' language level.
Chapter five mainly discusses the detailed teaching methods in the different stages in English listening and speaking class when applying the English movie. The author discusses the measures in applying English movie in teaching from the stages of preparation, seeing film, and doing exercises, in order to make people have a profound understanding on English movie teaching.
Chapter six the criteria for film selection will mainly be discussed. It is suggested that we need to select English movies for English listening and speaking teaching according to the teaching purpose, the film contents, and the technical factors, in order to achieve an obvious effect in communicative language teaching.
