本课题来源于国家863项目,支持大规模分布式网络应用的自主计算环境的研究,本论文选题属于该课题的后续研究。
分布式系统的资源是系统中所有可以被主体请求使用的计算实体的总称。本研究的资源主要是指能够提供计算能力、存储能力的PC、工作站、PDA等。这些资源实体通过资源基础设施的概念组织到一起,对上层应用表现为统一的描述和透明的连通。把资源和用户请求进行匹配,把合适的可用资源提供给用户使用是分布式资源管理的核心内容。
随着网络技术的不断发展和桌面PC机功能的日益强大,目前分布式资源的范围在不断扩大,由原来的局域网扩展到广域网范围,越来越多Internet上PC资源被纳入到分布式系统中,目前的SETI@Home就是边缘资源应用的最好例子。资源范围不断扩大,使如何有效地管理和发现可用资源成为一个继续解决的问题。集中的目录服务器管理资源方式的性能会随着管理资源数量和用户请求数量的增加而急剧下降,成为整个系统的性能瓶颈,而且不可避免存在单点故障
问题。
为了解决集中式目录服务的弊端,很多分布式系统采用了划分管理域,分布组织目录服务的策略。这些策略虽然缓解了目录服务的压力,但是在单个域上仍然是集中式管理,目录服务间存在一致性问题。而且管理域间的资源发现能力不够理想。目前的这种集中式目录服务无法满足大规模广域资源的扩展性问题。而良好的扩展性正是对等网的特点。
