Hollywood’s time has finally come. Facing the big impact made by American movies, Chinese movie industry should wake up. In this competitive worldwide movie market, the “big wolf’s” coming has made Chinese movie industry be in a more awkward situation. The first step for Chinese movies to go out of this awkward situation is to know why American movies can impact on Chinese industry much. To solve this problem, this thesis states the following objective causes and subjective causes. The objective causes include: 1) there is big disparity between Chinese movies and American movies’ quality; and 2) these two countries hold many differences in the market operation mechanism and American movie industry has a perfect system of marketing their movies. The subjective causes include: 1) the Chinese people’s taste of movies are getting increasingly Americanized and Europeanized; and 2) the Chinese government, media and audience just are not fully aware of the importance of protecting domestic movies. Only when all of these problems are solved, can Chinese movie industry step out of the awkward situation and turn to a new page of its bright future.
